If you’re the one who has an opinion about things and likes to put it forward, then we have the perfect opportunity lined up for you. Group discussion followed by a debate would be the perfect setup for you to showcase your thoughts and display your adorned reasoning. People say, “Intellectuals can debate, idiots just argue!” Well, we call you to prove it. Prove it with your wit and skills and take away home exciting prizes. We are eager to hear you, are you prepared to think out loud?
  • Participation: Individual
  • Eligibility: School and College students with valid identity cards.
  • Preliminary Round: Group Discussion
  • Final Round : Deate
  • Winners from each Group Discussion will qualify for the Debate
  • Use of internet and mobile devices/computers is strcitly prohibited.

Detailed Rules and Regulations for Group Discussion

  • Students will be randomly assigned to a group.
  • The topic of discussion for each group will be released at the venue.
  • Both English and Hindi are allowed as the media of communication.
  • Judging criteria :-
    - Matter : The content of your points and its relevance to the topic of discussion, along with attempts to add diverse perspectives to it is encouraged
    - Manner : The etiquettes of your speech. Practices such as interrupting another participant in the middle of a speech, passing condescending remarks etc. will be highly discouraged. Polite, but active participation will be encouraged.

Detailed Rules and Regulations for Debate

  • There will be two teams, each comprising of two or three speakers.
  • The students will be randomly assigned to a team.
  • Each team will have to deliever two or three constructive speeches, and two or three rebuttal speeches.
  • Speeches should be of SEVEN minutes in duration.
  • The topic of debate will be released at the venue.
  • Both English and Hindi are allowed as the media of communication.
  • In order to establish an assertion, the team must support it with enough evidence and logic to convince an intelligent but previously uninformed person that it is more reasonable to believe the assertion than to disbelieve it. Facts must be accurate. Visual materials are permissible, and once introduced, they become available for the opponents' use if desired.
  • Each speaker will be questioned as soon as he concludes his/her constructive speech. The witness must answer the questions without consulting his colleagues.
  • In the questioning period, the questioner may ask any fair, clear question that has a direct bearing on the debate. The questioner may use the period to build up any part of his own case, to tear down any part of his opposition's case, or to ascertain facts, such as the opposition's position on a certain issue, that can be used later in the debate. The questioner must confine himself to questions and not make statements, comments, or ask rhetorical questions.
